Improve SEO - Search Ranking
Being on Top of the First Page of Google Isn't Good Enough Anymore.
If you ain't First - Your Last
A recent study shows that with regard to local search, (meaning someone is searching Google for something in their own area), people tend to click on the FIRST link at the top of a search that is from a local business. What does this mean to you? It means that it is no longer good enough to be on the first page of Google. It is no longer good enough to be within the top five businesses displayed by Google. It is no longer even good enough to be in the top three businesses displayed by Google. Today, like the line from the Movie, the Ballad of Ricky Bobby…. “If you ain’t first, you’re last!” So having your Search Engine Optimization dialed in is more important now than it has ever been. And, it is getting harder to maintain as Google continues to make updates to its search engine. Tips on how to improve your SEO and Search Ranking.
How Hard is it to improve your SEO and Search Ranking using Search Engine Optimization (SEO)? Most SEO Companies will tell you it takes anywhere from six months to two years to get on top. The truth is, without a significant effort to make it happen, there is a significant likelihood that you will never reach the top of Google. Few Adwords Marketing Agencies will even discuss results with regard to SEO. But that is not us. Not at the local level anyway. We have never one time failed to put a client on top of organic search using SEO in their LOCAL MARKET. The key words there are local market. Your home area. Meaning if you are a fly fishing guide in New Orleans, and someone types “fly fishing guide New Orleans” into the Google Search bar, we are pretty confident we can get you into that number one spot. Can we PROMISE YOU THIS? No, we can’t. Let’s face it, we don’t own Google, and we are not in control of Google. But what we can say: so far, we have never failed to move a client into the top spot.
So why do other companies shy away from telling you that they can do this? Who knows. Google tells you precisely how to do it. Maybe they lack confidence in their skills, or themselves. Maybe they haven’t kept current on what Google demands from someone who wants to show up on top of search. Maybe they were never current in the first place. Maybe they don’t want to put the time and effort into it, and it is a lot of work. It happens more than you think. Most people we encounter in the Digital Marketing industry only learn enough to achieve an outcome that is “pretty good.” And let’s face it, if your website was on page twenty, and an agency gets you onto the first page, that seems like a big improvement. And the truth is, at one time, that WAS good enough. But today, with people’s ever shortening attention span, you are literally either first….or you don’t exist and might as well be on the twentieth page. Scary, but true.
